The Band Plays On
Dianne Roberts reports that the Laconia High School Band's appearances at Epcot and Valencia College were very successful with a first place win in the marching band category and second place for the concert band.

On the Job
Immediate Past Pres. Larry Murphy recounted that, while in Pennsylvania, he saw a car with Cantin Chevrolet dealer plates. After alerting the authorities, he ran into Eddie Cantin at the hotel--mystery solved.

Reading Is FUNdamental
Chair Joe Adrignola advises everyone that our final RIF programs for the year will be next month.

Pres. Warren Mitchell is on the look-out for the club's medic-alert system which is needed by someone else.

Interclub
Pres. Warren Mitchell reports that we will be visiting the Concord club, Monday, May 10, 12n, Cat and Fiddle Restaurant. Members planning on attending will be contacted about car-pooling options. It is suggested that members bring their name tags.

Jane Thibault had a buck for her daughter graduating cum laude; Jim Fortier for Maj. Jeanne Jones providing his discharge papers which he had up-till-then been unsuccessful in obtaining; and Joe Collie for becoming engaged to fiancée, Jill, for an October 16 wedding.

Happy Anniversary
Sec.'y Kathy Calvin reports that we are invited to the Sheffield, Mass., club's 50th Anniversary, Saturday, May 22, RSVP by May 15.

Club Elections
Pres. Warren Mitchell called for nominations from the floor for the club elections at our Annual Meeting, Monday, May 10. With none forthcoming, nominations were closed. Candidates include--President: Paul Cotton; First Vice President: Joe Collie; Second Vice President: Jane Thibault; Directors: Joe Adrignola, Jim Fortier, Steve Loughlin, Don Nelson, and Jeff Stone.

Boards Matters
The Boards voted $375 for dental bills; $8.38 for postage; large sums of money for the 4th of July celebration; $5000 to Lakes Region Child Care; $140 to Laconia High School Lacrosse; and $540 to the Boy Scouts.

Treas. Chet Cilley reports that vendor applications are already coming in for the holiday festivities at Opechee Park.

Kiwanis Safety Day
Treas. Chet Cilley reminded everyone that the Bike Rodeo will be held in the former Brooks Pharmacy parking lot next to the High School with a rain location at the Community Center on Saturday, May 15. A sign-up sheet went around with only six members on board so far.

Laconia Kiwanians Chet Cilley and Jim Fortier were honored this past Saturday at the Laconia Little
League opening day ceremonies. A special tribute was made to past Laconia Little League presidents. In
addition to serving as past presidents of the Laconia Kiwanis Club, Jim Fortier served as president of
the Laconia Little League in 1975 while Chet Cilley served as president in 1989.
