Interclub
The trip to the Berlin club will be on Tuesday, July 26, rain
or shine. The group will leave the Gilford branch of Meredith
Village Savings Bank at 2:30p.
Guest Speakers
Barbara Zeckhausen and Janet Mitchell, Lakes Region Child Care
Services, were introduced to the club. The organization was founded
in 1967 to respond to the community need for childcare while
parents worked. The provide infant, toddler, and preschool care
in centers in Gilford and Laconia for approximately 150 children
each day. The Laconia center offers morning and afternoon kindergarten
classes. Before and after school care for 90 children K-5 at
three elementary schools. A summer camp program is housed in
Memorial Middle School. A recent survey showed that 78% if the
families served by the Laconia Early Learning Center earn at
or below 80% of the median income for the area. They will be
opening a new facility at the old Scott & Williams building.
$500,000 needs to be raised in the capital campaign. For more
