This writer introduced Community Affairs Dir. Christopher Boothby, Lakes Region General Hospital, to the club. He points out that over the last 5 years the government has contributed less than $22 million to the hospital. Endowments and block grants have helped make up for some of the shortfall. What also has helped is the Franklin Hospital being designated an area critical access facility, management efficiency, and increased philanthropic help. Michael Cosgrove, LNA, is a nursing school student who pointed out that due to clinical staff shortages, it is even more necessary to train and retain nurses. As a side note, the hospital sees over 65,000 people a year. For more information go to lrgh.org.
