Thanx
Sec.'y Kathy Calvin read a thank-you letter from the Laconia Multicultural Market Day. They had three times the attendance of last year.Installation 2003
V.P. Warren Mitchell reports we have around 70 signed up for the Installation Dinner which will be held on Monday, September 29, 6p, at Pheasant Ridge Country Club. Division 6 Lt. Gov.-Elect Dan Witham will be in attendance for the ceremonies. The Boards has approved member reimbursement for the cost of the event if a guest joins the club. He suggests that not only should members plan on wearing their name tags but guests should be provided with same. Also, an effort should be made to have our members sit with guests. There will be no entertainment so it should be a short evening. This is also a good opportunity to bring in prospective members. We're Awarded
Immediate Past Lt. Gov. Ken Georgevits presented several awards--Immediate Past Pres. Phil Bonafide: Distinguished Club Award; Past Pres. Michael Bastraw, Governor's Public Relation Award; Sec.'y Kathy Calvin: Distinguished Secretary Award; Honor Club Award; and $50 of Kiwanis Cash for supply purchases.Immediate Past Pres. Guest Speaker
Past Pres. Jim Fortier introduced Jim Carroll, Keeping the Light On, to the club. The fundraiser is for improvements to the Laconia Veterans Memorial including landscaping, walkways, watering system, benches, reflecting pool, and lighting. The park dedication is planned for Memorial Day next. They are soliciting donations from groups (they've received $25,000 from the V.F.W.) and individuals using lawn flamingos. Someone pays $25 to have them arrive on someone else's lawn. Then it costs that person $25 to have them removed. Donations may be sent to Keeping the Lights on, P.O. Box 1700, Laconia, NH 03247.Past Pres. Jim Fortier, Jim Carroll, and Pres. Larry Murphy
