Back from Ariz.
"How do ya do, Roger Webster, how do ya do?" We feared he would answer.

Thanx
We received a thank-you letter from the Senior Babe Ruth Baseball team for our $100 contribution.

Forward, Harch!
The Laconia Little league has invited the club, as a supporter of the league, to march in the opening day parade. The parade will be held this Saturday, May 4, and will leave the Elks' Club parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and proceed up Main Street to Opechee Park. Though little interest was expressed to participate, it seems the least we could do is tow our trailer through the streets.

Win a Classic!
Pres. Phil Bonafide reports that no one has signed up for our next roadshow to the Keene Swap Meet, Sunday next. This is doubly disturbing. In addition to not being able to field a minimum sales force, we miss the potential of clearing the $2500 we raised last year. That's a lot of money we won't have to spend on our charities. Anyone interested in helping out with a rescue mission to salvage the event should call this writer at 524-9555 by Thursday. If there is a sufficient response, Sr. Member Dick Breton is willing to provide transport for crew and equipment, weather permitting. Admittedly, this is a tough show, as it's, in practical terms, all-day duty. But $2500 is $2500.

Diamond Anniversary
Treas. Chet Cilley reports that the anniversary supplement should be completed in about two weeks. Sr. Member Roger Webster presented the club with a $25 check from the Superstition Springs Kiwanis Club, Mesa, Arizona for an ad in the supplement.

RiF
Chair Joe Adrignola advises the club again will participate in the next Reading Is FUNdamental at Elm St. and Pleasant St. Schools, May 17 and Woodland Heights School on May 22. Be sure to sign up early.

Club Elections
It was voted to accept no further nominations to the existing slate for next year's officers and directors. The following will appear on the ballot for club elections for 2002-2003 to be held at the Annual Meeting on Monday, May 6: for Director (four to be elected)--Joe Collie, Don Nelson, Steve Loughlin, Warren Mitchell, Randy Eifert, and Russ Beane; Treasurer--Chet Cilley; 2nd Vice President--Nate Robertson; 1st Vice President--John Grocki; President--Larry Murphy.

Only Joe Collie seems interested in the amazing levitating money.

Happy Dollars
Dan, John, Nathan, and Joe each contributed a buck in celebration of their winning the 50/50. Dick Breton contributed 5 happy dollars in recognition of accomplishments of his two granddaughters Meghan and Caroline. Meghan, age 9, achieved straight A's in her fourth grade class and, after one year of skiing at Mt. Cranmore, she took first place in a racing competition. Caroline, age 7, first grader, became a published writer for her creative writing at Pine Street School in Center Conway. On May 1, she will receive Student of the Month award as an exceptional student.

Sr. Member Dick Breton pays for bragging rights.

Guest Speakers
Dianne Roberts introduced three speakers from Lakes Region General Hospital. Each addressed "Easing Back into the Games of Summer," also known as getting back into recreational events without injury. Craig Johnson, 5-year exercise specialist from the Wellness Center, spoke on general physical concerns. Target areas include cardiovascular exercise, muscular strength, and flexibility training (stretching your muscles). Joshua Brooks, a 8-year physical therapist in Rehab Services and located in the Belmont office (Wilcom building), discussed basic information available on the internet. He noted that 80% of injury's are due to poor preparation prior to a workout. Stacey Sorrell, 9-year Coordinator of the Pain Management Program, addressed why patients come in for pain management. She reported the program results in individual plan of care for each patient. For additional information go to www.lrgh.org, www.playbettergolf.net, and www.golfix.co.uk.
