Special Olympics
The sign-up sheet for staffing the softball throw at the State Special Olympics, U.N.H., Saturday, June 8, 8:30a, is out. On board are Peggy Arend, Chet and Grace Cilley, and Michael Bastraw. This really is a fun event that all members should consider supporting if they are not selling tickets on the boardwalk the same day. If anyone needs additional info, call Special Olympics at 1-800-639-2608 or Kiwanian Art Creighton at 448-3431 (w).

Win a Classic!
Pres. Phil Bonafide reports that he, Don Nelson, Kathy Calvin, John Grocki and Roger Webster were on the Weirs Boardwalk Saturday last. They raised $815 between 9a and 3p with a light to medium crowd. After that, it's motorcycle week, our last big push and "that's all we're gonna make." The sheet is out there and needs to be filled. Pres. Phil has signed up for 10 shifts and will probably end up doing more. The least the rest of us can do is sign up for a couple of shifts (and don't forget your sunscreen). As usual, if you sign up for a shift and can't make it, it's your responsibility to find a replacement. V.P. John Grocki and Nate Robertson put together a display of our activities to use on the Boardwalk. Past Pres. Jim Fortier is looking for a large ticket drum for the final push, if anyone know where one may be had. Thurston's Marina has once again agreed to allow us to park on their property next to the drive-in theater fence. Be certain not to block either of the gates to the theater!

Happy Dollars
Don Nelson for a good article in the business section of The Citizen on our dental program; and Steve Loughlin for Randy Eifert for saving his marriage Saturday night.

RiF
Sec.'y Kathy Calvin noted that she, Dianne Roberts, Nancy Williams, Judie Reever, Joe Adrignola, and Off. Kevin Butler helped with Reading Is FUNdamental at Woodland Heights School, Wednesday last. Liz Rosenfeld, PSS RIF Coordinator, writes: "Aloha to Kiwanis Club, Attached are some pictures of the RIF celebration at Pleasant Street School. As you can see, the students are having a wonderful time and the response has been so positive. I can't thank you enough for sponsoring this project, it has more than accomplished the goal of stimulating interest in reading. Our students are excited about the program and feel privileged to be part of RIF. Thanks again."

It's much too bright to read ghost stories.

He Doesn't Look Like FDR
Charlie St. Clair assured all that "there is nothing to fear" from potential violence between rival motorcycle groups during Motorcycle Week. He believes that the news media have blown things out of proportion.

Charlie St. Clair's suggestion to stay calm seems to be working.

Fine
Nate Robertson paid a fine for being late.

Guest Speaker
Charlie St. Clair introduced Dir. of Development & Communications Gail V. Tapply, Spaulding Youth Center Foundation, to the club. Originally an orphanage, the Spaulding Youth Center now houses juveniles who have run afoul of the law. For more information, go to www.s-y-c.org or by call Gail Tapply at 286-8901.
