Win a Classic!
Chair Phil Bonafide reports that First Prize Winner Denis Brochu met with him, Pres. Don Nelson, and Steve Loughlin Thursday last at Meredith Harley to pick up his bike and was "still really excited." Brochu assured them that he would be back next year for more tickets. Pearl Ives wrote to advise she would take the $200 offered in preference to the Fisher Price Harley. This year was the first time she and her husband had been to Rally Week since 1963. Pres. Don Nelson reports that Meredith Harley Davidson has put us on a list for a 2002 blue and ice Heritage Classic.

Sgt.@Arms Roger Landry found Dick Breton pinless.Happy Dollar
Ed Chertok kicked in a buck for wife Polly coming to dinner with him; Steve Loughlin gave a happy dollar in honor of the engagement of former Kiwanis member Cheri Marshall to Mike Amalfitano, owner of Amalfi Racing. Steve heard the good news when he had the opportunity to speak Cheri last week. Cheri met Mike at the Loudon International speedway last August. Both were racing their Porsche's (in separate races). They subsequently began dating and, on New Year's Eve, they were engaged. Cheri and Mike will be married next May on a Greek cruise in the Silver Seas.

Chair Chet Cilley says that expenses have been met for the Fourth of July Celebration at Opechee Park. More vendors are still coming on board. He encourages our club to be in the parade. This would be a good opportunity for public exposure.

Guest Speaker
Past Pres. Nancy Williams introduced Mr. Fixit Program Dir. David T. Poisson to the club. After 28 years as Asst. Principal at Winnisquam Regional High School, he's moved on to this program under the auspices of the Community Action Program. Mr. Fixit is a program to assist Senior (aged 60 or over) homeowners with minor home repairs. Labor is provided by qualified handymen volunteers who are experienced with plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work. Other volunteers provide minor yard work and gardening. The only charges are for material costs. Donations from clients to the program are encouraged but not mandatory. United Way and C.A.P. pick up the slack in funding. The purpose of the program is to allow residents to "remain independent and stay in their own homes" longer than might otherwise be possible. Since moving the program into Belknap County, Poisson has received 180 requests for service in 3 months. Right now he has 26 regular volunteers available at any time with 60-80 others who pitch in on an occassional basis.
