Happy Dollars
Chet Cilley contributed $5.00 in celebration of the newspaper article on his wife entitled "Women in the workplace" (see attached photo) and in honor of his son, John, who is presently serving his country in Bosnia where he'll be stationed for the next six months. Ed Chertok contributed $5.00 for two reasons. First in honor of his wife, Polly, who was his guest for dinner and in celebration that today was his birthday.

Thank You from Leo and Claire
President Phil read a thank-you from Leo and Claire Sasseville for the hospitality shown on their recent visit to the Club. Dick Breton reported he explained to Leo how to find the Laconia Kiwanis Club on the web.

Gilford Old Home Day
President Phil reported that Roger Landry will give the club the details on the outcome of sales at Gilford Old Home Day. The concession, which opened at 11 am ran out of food at 2 pm, grossed approximately $910.

75 Anniversary Supplement
President Phil has been advised that the 75 Anniversary Supplement is expected to be completed by next week.

Anniversary Invite
The Berlin Kiwanis Club is celebrating its 75th Anniversary on Saturday, September 28th and the Laconia Kiwanis Club is invited. Please make reservations with Glen Tassey (752-4322) before September 18th.

Interclub News
Dick Breton was pleased to report on last Thursday's interclub to York, Maine. The trek included 5 motorcycles and one vehicle. Dick noted the meeting was well organized but the ride back home was a little difficult.

Installation Dinner
Chair Nancy Williams has rescheduled the Installation Dinner to Monday, September 30, at Pheasant Ridge Country Club.

Special Guests
Steve Loughlin introduced Karen Bianco (President) and Joan Cormier (Executive Director) from the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation. Karen Bianco then read a brief history of the founding of the Kiwanis Club and gave details on current facts on Kiwanis International membership. Karen Bianco and Joan Cormier both thanked the Laconia Kiwanis Club for the support it has given to the Lakes Region Scholarship foundation over the past 46 years. To date, the club has granted 192 scholarships totaling $72,150.

Reminder
No meeting next Monday due to the holiday. However, we will meet on Tuesday night.

Ned Roberts Award
Pres. Phil Bonafide, V.P. Larry Murphy, V.P. John Grocki, Treas. Chet Cilley, and Past Pres. Michael Bastraw should plan on meeting after the regular meeting on September 9 to discuss this year's candidates for Kiwanian of the Year.
