Happy Birthday:
Roger Webster announced that it was Howard Bacon’s 89th birthday!  Happy Birthday Howard!  Roger also updated the club on Ed Merski’s run in with a chainsaw.
Larry Murphy said Ed is fine.

Bike Rodeo Update:
Vice President Mike gave an update on the Bike Rodeo that will take place at Opechee Park on May 15th.   He sent around a sign up sheet, please meet at 8:00 am at the park to help set up!  Mike reports that helmets are in, horns are in, flyers are being distributed throughout the schools, and Kathy Calvin has offered to set up barricades the night before to keep individuals from parking where we will be holding the event. 

Other News:
Kathy Calvin reports on the book distribution to Laconia Head Start, Laconia Kiwanis Club gave them 100 books!

Kathy noted, while doing Kiwanis K.A.R.E.S at Pleasant Street school, the club was presented with pictures from previous readings, which she proudly circulated.

-The Kiwanis Club of Laconia has been invited to participate in the 1st Annual Walk for Youth on May 22nd.  If you are interested please let Brian Winslow know.

-Jim Nute from the Mayhew Program sent in a nice "thank you" note from his visit a couple of weeks ago:

After asking for nominations from the floor (and receiving none) the slate was unanimously approved.  President Brian asked that those elected this evening to plan to stay for the Board Meeting next week where we will be electing a Secretary (Kathy Calvin) and discussing a strategic planning initiative.
