Committee Requested
The club was reminded of the fund raising opportunity presented a few months ago by Dr. Lou Ricciardello. Lou Ricciardello estimates that the flower will bloom in approximately 4 months. A committee is being formed as we move forward. Joe Adrignola, Larry Murphy, and Jim Fortier are on board and a couple more would be appreciated. Please let either one of the Joes know if you're interesting in lending a hand.
Four More Years!
Nominations were taken from the floor for the upcoming club elections. There are 5 (4 final and 1 pending) nominations for 4 open board of director positions. Jane Thibault is on the ballot for President and Dianne Roberts for VP. Jeff Stone for 2nd VP and John Stow has OK'd a nomination for Treasurer for another year. A final ballot will be presented next week and the officers and directors for 2006-2007 will be announced at the meeting on Monday, May 15th.

Extra...Extra...Read all about it!
The club was mentioned twice in the Laconia Daily Sun in separate letters to the editor on May 1st. One letter opened with "Kudos to the Kiwanis Club" and the second cited Kiwanis, Rotary, and all other civic clubs that raise money for the community during Motorcycle Week. Joe Adrignola acknowledged the letter in a previous edition of the paper written by Joe Collie, Chet Cilley, and Jim Fortier clarifying the club's role in the 4th of July Celebration. Joe said that letter was -quote- great. It should be noted Phil Bonafide, though not signing, had a hand in that letter. Thanks, Phil!

It's The Holiday Season...
President Joe Collie reminds everyone that we will NOT be meeting on Monday, May 29th because of the Memorial Day Holiday. The club will meet on Tuesday, May 30th.
Fore!
Phil "I used to be the President" Bonafide reminded the club of the available foursome the club was granted in the upcoming Community Health and Hospice Golf Tournament. It is Monday, June 5th, 2006 at Waukewan Golf Club in Meredith. If all are still available and willing; Chet Cilley, Larry Murphy, Ed "Assistant Pro" Merski, and Jeff Stone are on board.
We're Invited
The club received an invitation to Lakes Region Child Care Services' Annual Meeting; Monday, May 15th at Willow's Steak and Spirits in The Weirs. Cocktails are at 5:30 and dinner at 6. The guest speaker will be Doug Hall, the Director of the NH Center for Public Policy Studies. If anyone attends that meeting, you'll receive attendance credit for our regular meeting, which falls on the same night.
Please be Kind...Rewind. Uh...I mean recycle.
Charlie "I have the winning ticket" St. Clair showed off special recycle containers for cans and plastics that will be displayed at The Weirs during Motorcycle Week. Charlie said that Waste Management has offered to take the cans and plastics to Rochester, NH for the city and will waive the usual transfer fee. A buyer for the aluminum has already been secured and the monies raised will go right back to the Bike Week budget. Charlie suggested everyone use the containers airing Bike Week.

April Board Meetings
"We talked a lot in April, but I am not sure how much business we did." --Anonymous quote The minutes from the March board meeting were approved on April 3rd. Kathy Calvin read the minutes from the board meetings in April. The club approved funding for Multi Cultural Day in Laconia coming up in September. The board also provided funds toward Sealant Day, a dental center effort in the Laconia Schools, set for May 5th. The board also accepted a rate increase of $1 per meal with a 20-person minimum from Contigiani's. Both January Financial reports were approved and the money for our annual scholarships was approved, too. On April 10th, the board approved a motion to request Mike Bastraw's resignation.
