ATV Raffle:
The first weekend of the Rochester Fair left a little to be desired as bad weather and small crowds seem to do us in. Brian Winslow, Dick Metz, and Howard Bacon sold tickets over the weekend, with the latter two working both days. Larry Murphy and Ed Merski will work a couple shifts as time permits during the week and then the second weekend comes up. Signed up so far:

Happy Dollars:
Dick Metz gave five happy dollars for his time this weekend at the Rochester Fair. He stressed membership! Brian Winslow gave 2 happy dollars for Dick Metz and Howard Bacon working the fair this weekend. Dianne Roberts gave 3 happy dollars, 1 for this being her last meeting as President, 1 for her son moving out to college in Pennsylvania, 1 for her other son passing the motorcycle test. Bill Cosmos gave 2 happy dollars for being here for Dianne’s first and last meeting. Roger Landry gave 2 happy dollars for his son being the architect of a hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Roger and Dianne play tug of war with this dollar.

Fines:
Lori Dickson and Dianne Roberts were pinless.
Guest Speaker:
Dave Cooley from The Lodge came and spoke about some of the new rules that surround charity nights at The Lodge in Belmont. The Kiwanis Club has 10 nights scheduled for the early part of 2009. One of the rules that has changed was, in the past, a club member had to be in attendance for the entire time of the gaming events. Now, a club member only has to be there to just sign the license and then leave…five minutes in and out. Within 10 days of the final night, the gaming facility and the club will get together and sign some final documents and pass the check. Dave said that this year, most charities will realize $7-8k from their run, where as, in years past, charities would take home between $4k and $5k. There could be a substantial increase in revenue if pending legislation regarding slot machines and legalized gambling is passed.
ATTENTION CLUB MEMBERS: Be in attendance at the meeting of September 29th so we can discuss this fund raising opportunity further with the general membership. Thanks.
L to R: Larry Murphy, Dave Cooley, and future Past President Dianne.
