Reading is FUNdamental...
Kathy Calvin advises the club that there will be a RIF reading at Elm Street School on Wednesday, January 24th from 1:45-2:45pm. Please check your schedules. A sign up sheet will be circulated at next week's meeting. At press time, only Warren Mitchell had signed up for this event.

He'd give you the shirt off his back....
Roger Landry advised the club that we will be ordering shirts again from Piche's. If you don't have one, want an extra, or no longer fit in the one you have, see him and let him know what you'd like and he'll place the order. Thanks to Roger for his work on this.

From the Kiwanis Mailbag...
We received THANK YOU cards from Lakes Region Child Care Services for our recent donation of $15,000. Jim Fortier delivered a check to them at their open house in December.
We also received a THANK YOU from the Library for our pledge to them. Paul Cotton is scheduled to deliver another payment this week ($5,000 on Wednesday, January 17th at 10am).
Another THANK YOU came from the LRGH Auxiliary for our donation in the name of Polly Chertok. The letter described her long work with the organization and confirmed what we heard last week; a scholarship in her name has been formed.
We received a HOLIDAY CARD from Community Health and Hospice, in which they thanked us for the support we give their Young Families Programs.
We recei
ved a HOLIDAY CARD from the Circle Program, which also thanked us for our support throughout the years.

We're Invited....
Also in the mail, we received an invitation to lunch at the American Spirit Cafe at the Huot Technical Center at Laconia High School. The lunch is to thank us for our partnership with the students in the Laconia School District. It will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 11:30. If interested, please let President Joe Collie know, or contact Fran at 524-5710 by January 29th. NOTE: President Joe Collie can't go...but if we were represented it would be nice. Please check your schedules and THANKS!

The Lodge at Belmont
We met this week at the Lodge at Belmont, formally the Lakes Region Greyhound Park. We were treated to fabulous Prime Rib, Chicken, and Haddock entrees. Melissa Bivens is the Food and Beverage Manager and she gave us a tour of the facility, including their poker rooms and buffet rooms. Also, their restaurants, including 106 Prime, where we met, and Bluesology, which is their blues club open 7 nights a week and featuring live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. Melissa said the new place has been well received and will be busiest from May through September, when they run LIVE greyhound racing at their track.

NEXT WEEK: Remember, we are back at One Mill Plaza in Downtown Laconia.!
