News from the Prez:
President Mike alerted the club
that there will be a New England District training Seminar coming up in Framingham,
MA. He also announced that the Belknap County 4H fair is looking for volunteers.
If you are interested please let President Mike know.
News from the Treasurer:
Joe Adrignola reminded the club that the February 14th
meeting is going to be an interesting one. We have speakers that will discuss
their visits to Haiti. It is also Valentines day so bring you significant
other!

News from the Immediate Past Prez.:
Brian Winslow let the club know that this week the Kiwanis
Club of Laconia is the beneficiary charity at the Lodge at Belmont. No estimate
yet on how much has been raised.

Merski introduced Greg Goddard as our guest speaker this evening. Greg Goddard
is the General Manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort. Greg started his presentation
by giving us some snowmaking facts regarding Gunstock:
Did
you know:
- Gunstock has invested over $4 million in past 5 years

Over $1 million has been invested
in new snow gun technology

Total water converted to snow this season is 158,878,500
gallons

Total Energy used = 4.5 million KWH (the January Power Bill was $284,00)

The
cost of one snowmaking season = +/- $1 million
Greg then spoke to the club about new plans for the “Other Season” at Gunstock
Mountain Resort. These plans include:
1.
A new adventure ropes course called ”Aerial
Treetop Adventures” complete with 2 demo levels, 5 different adult levels, 1
kids course and a total of 80+ different “games. For more information on this

2.
A summit to base zip line (3
zips total).
3.
A mountain roller coaster (Next to tubing hill).

New Arrival:
On Thursday, January, 20th, a new Collie was added to Joe's litter. Amelia Kathleen was born at 8:24 am. She weighed in at 8 lbs 10 ounces and is 19 3/4 inches long. Joe had planned to come to Kiwanis tonight but noted, if he left his wife alone, he would be in the dog house.
