Our February 18th regular meeting was cancelled due to a snow storm and our March 17th regular meeting was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. However, the Laconia Kiwanis Club continues to move forward serving the Lakes Region Community.
On April 7th, we held a Board meeting online using the Zoom Video Communications application. In attendance were: President Meredith Michaud, Betty Ballantyne, Phil Bonafide, Bill Gile, Steve Loughlin, Kara Stanley and John Walker. Not in attendance was Scott Laurent.

The Board voted to make the following donations:
• $500 to Got Lunch! Laconia
• $500 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Lakes Region
• $600 to Special Olympics of New Hampshire
• $250 to Franklin Comfort Dog Program
CONNECT AT PATRICK'S
On March 5th members of the Laconia Kiwanis Club met at Patrick's Pub with several community residents to discuss our mission and how we help the children in the Lakes Region. At tonight's Board meeting, Meredith, Steve, Kara and Bill reported on the event. All felt it was a beneficial event as good connections were made. (See pictures and summary of the event below.)

District News:
Laconia High School Key Club member Lydia Tucker’s term as Lt. Governor - Division 5 of the New England & Bermuda District has expired. However, Steve Loughin was pleased to report Lydia was elected Governor of the Key Club for the entire New England & Bermuda District. That means Lydia will be in charge of all Key Club divisions in the district and she will be serving alongside the Kiwanis District Governor and Circle K District Governor.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Board made the following decisions:
• Bike Rodeo, scheduled for May 9th, has been cancelled.
• There will be no April general membership meeting . We will keep the members posted as to the date when we will resume regular meetings at the Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant.
A decision is expected by April 30th as to whether or not 2020 Bike Week will be cancelled or rescheduled.

DRIVE 4 UR COMMUNITY:
On March 6th, the Laconia Kiwanis Club received a $2,600 check for their recent participation in Ford’s Drive 4 UR Community which was hosted by Irwin Ford. Many thanks to Chris Irwin, Vice President of the Irwin Automotive Group, the Irwin Automotive Team and all participants for making this drive a success.

REMEMBERING ROGER WEBSTER:
The Laconia Kiwanis Club was saddened to hear of the passing of Roger Webster on February 5, 2020. Roger had been a member of the Club since 1980 and had served as Club President during the 1992-1993 term and retired from the Club in 2016.

next regular meeting at the Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant will be announced once restrictions are lifted so we may meet again in a group setting. Members will be advised via email and on the Laconia Kiwanis Club Facebook page.
