Life’s a Beach….
Brian Winslow indicated that he still had two tickets left for the Belknap Mill’s Life’s a Beach party on Friday May 8th. The tickets were quickly scooped up by Howard Bacon.

Bike Rodeo...
The Bike Rodeo sign up sheet was passed around again. The Bike Rodeo is coming up on Saturday, May 9th. Mike Marsh said tickets for the inspections are being made up. The raffle bike and the horns have been ordered. The raffle bike is a 24 inch bike, but should the winner require a smaller bike, they will be allowed to trade it in for the appropriate size. 1,000 copies of the flier will be going into the schools this week and the word is getting out. The event will be at Leavitt Park on Elm Street in Laconia. Signed up so far: Brian Winslow, Joe Collie, Kathy Calvin, Phil Bonafide, Joe Adrignola, Dianne Roberts, Steve Loughlin, Warren Mitchell, Ron Penn, Mike Marsh, Jim Fortier, Roger & Pam Landry, Roger Webster, Paul Normandin, Carroll Stafford, Larry Murphy and Howard Bacon.

On the Boardwalk:
Dick Metz said that, at this point, we have restaurant gift certificates from the BrickFront and the Galley restaurant. We will have tickets for the painting of a motorcycle by Phantom Phenders. We will also have a Kiwanis “kettle” of sorts for passer-by's to make donations. This will all take place at no charge to the club, other than advertising. Dick said the only investment the club will need to make is the time to man the booth during Bike Week.

50 50...
$17 to the winner.

Senior member, Howard Bacon, does the honors in drawing the winning ticket.

Howard rubbed Roger's head for luck before drawing the winner.

Happy Dollars:
Dick Metz gave a happy dollar because Roger Landry made it back safely from the DR. He gave a second dollar for some other reason…Howard gave a happy dollar because he was happy that Dick was happy. Roger gave $5 because he made it to and back from the DR and because we welcomed back Larry Murphy, Howard Bacon, and Jim Fortier. Kathy Calvin gave a buck because she will be on her cruise next week and Joe Collie gave two dollars because the incoming Lt. Governor resigned, that one was given in sarcasm….and a second because his wife is now a permanent employee at the Belknap County Nursing Home.

Did someone say "happy hour?"

The writer was pleased to get reacquainted with a good friend of Kiwanis last Friday night at The Vinyards restaurant in Belmont. John Paquette served as president of the Laconia Kiwanis Club for the term of 1996-1997 and was Kiwanian of the Year for the period of 1993-1994. Pam, John's lovely bride of eight years is...beleive it or not...Roger Webster's daughter. Undoubtedly, John has heard a lot of war stories.
