On the Boardwalk:
Past President Paul Cotton and Steve Loughlin updated the membership on the sales activity at the Weirs.

Paul let everyone know if they needed parking passes at Thurston’s to please let him know.  Paul reports that the weather has not been helpful and that the raffle tickets take active solicitation to sell.  He also briefed individuals on how to set up and breakdown each day.

Steve Loughlin reported on his experience selling tickets the day before and then
noted some of the sales techniques that he found helpful in making a sale.

Guest Speakers:
President Mike Marsh introduced our guest speakers this evening from the Belknap County 4H Club: Stephanie Davis, Maggie Randall and Dana Chase.

Stephanie let the club know that the Belknap 4H Club includes children ages 5 and up and includes activities from cooking, sewing, riflery, woodworking, gardening and livestock.  4H members can compete at the club level, county level, state level and eventually they can compete at the national level.

Stephanie let the club know that for the past 4-5 years, the Belknap County 4H fair has been run by a few die-hard volunteers.  As a result, there really wasn’t enough help to get everything done that could be done.  A great group of people have stepped in this year to help run the fair and they have identified some volunteer needs that include facility repair and fair weekend volunteers.

Stephanie’s daughter, Maggie Randall, talked a little bit about her experience with 4H and how much she enjoys working with horses and some woodworking projects.   4H stands for Heads, Hearts, Health and Hands. It teaches kids to be self-sufficient.  Belknap fair is scheduled for August 13th and 14th and Dana Chase has scheduled the following workdays with which he will need some help: June 25th, July 10th and August 7th.

If you are interested in helping please contact Dana at 267-7034 or Belknap County 4H can be found at www.bc4hfair.org/1.html or on Facebook.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Maggie Randall previously appeared before the Laconia Kiwanis Club five years ago when she was the successful winner of the bicycle raffled off at the 2006 Laconia Kiwanis Bike Rodeo. For details, "click" here.
