NEWS FROM OUR MEMBERS:
John Walker reported that after two weeks Laconia has distributed 4,020 lunches to needy children in Laconia. John thanked club members for their participation including Roger & Pam Landry, Kathy Calvin, Bettye Ballantyne, Jim Fortier, Larry Murphy, Brian Winslow, Joe Adrignola, and Scott Laurent. John stated that the financial donations are nice but to actually have Kiwanians work the program is very much appreciated.

Chet Cilley asked that the club consider donating a plaque to retired member Paul Cotton through Kiwanis International, for a $250 price. The question was moved to the Board for discussion.

Steve Loughlin read a thank you note from Kiwanis scholarship recipient Ben Perkins. Ben's note can be viewed by "clicking" here.

Brian Winslow reported a $1,000 profit from our snack shack on the Boardwalk during Bike week. Several members who worked the stand stated many folks appreciated our $1 price for bottles of water, and frequently donated a lot more than the buck.

Betty Ballantyne reported that next meeting we will have an employee of the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro make a presentation, and the following meeting will feature Michelle Cardinal presenting a briefing on avoiding identity theft. (Subsequent to the meeting, Michelle rescheduled her presentation to September 10th.)

Kathy Calvin asked about club participation in the 4th of July parade. It was discussed among the membership and decided to make a $1,000 donation and to have our club banner on the review stand. Dick Breton will be riding down Main Street in his ’52 convertible with a Kiwanis banner on it. Dick invited club members to ride with him.
