Tilly The Titan Update
Joe Adrignola reports that the numbers are in from the “Corpse Flower” fundraiser and with the exceptions of a few lingering (no pun intended…well, maybe a little pun) expenses, the club and LRGH each netted over $12,474 dollars. A majority of the proceeds came from admissions and T-shirt sales. Again, a great team effort. Thanks to all the members who made it happen, thanks to the LRGH staff members who lent a hand and a BIG thanks to Dr. Lou Ricciardiello for his generosity.

Win A Classic!
It’s almost Motorcycle season again. Be advised that the vote by the general membership is needed to authorize the sale of the 2007 motorcycle. That vote has been scheduled for Monday, September 11th. Once approved, Raffle Chair Paul Cotton will make the purchase from Meredith Harley. The new bike will be red and black in color and feature a bigger engine than this past year’s model. It also will have a more sophisticated security system and 1584 CC’s. Our first stop could be the Sandwich Fair, which runs Columbus Day Weekend, October 7th, 8th, and 9th. We are waiting confirmation from the Fair’s board that we will be allowed to occupy the space usually reserved for the Meredith club, which will not be attending this year. More to follow at next week’s meeting.

SOLD?
Did Meredith Harley sell our 2006 Heritage Softail Classic? Maybe. Stay Tuned…

For the Board to consider…
Dick Breton reports that St. Vincent DePaul is no longer providing free or discounted dental care to seniors. Dick said that Hon. Member Dr. Lou Ricciardiello would like to see the formation of a public foundation, which has involvement from our club and the hospital. Suggestions were made that screening could be handled by St. Vincent’s and the hospital and Dr. Ricciardiello says there are dentists in the area, he included, that will provide half price service. The board will discuss options and feasibility at the meeting next week on Tuesday, September 5th.

Schedule Reminder
There will be no meeting next Monday due to the Labor Day weekend. Enjoy the holiday. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th. See you then. Boards will meet and NISE money will be collected.

We're Invited!
The club is invited to Community Health and Hospice’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 5pm to 7pm in the Winnipesaukee Ballroom at the Inn at Church Landing on Route 3 in Meredith. Guests will include Dr. Susan Lynch, First Lady of New Hampshire and Donna Ciocca, NH Teacher and Author. Anyone interested in attending should let Joe Collie or Joe Adrignola know by Monday, September 11th so we can RSVP by the 12th. Refreshments and desserts will be served with a cash bar.

Hey Kiwanis…THANKS!
Steve Loughlin reports we received a thank you note from scholarship recipient Katelyn Hendrickx. Congratulations, Katelyn. Well done.

Safety First...
The Laconia Police Department has asked if the club has any helmets for kids on bikes in town. We do and will be giving them some to distribute. Officer Yale reports that they are finding too many kids on bikes with no helmets. Roger Landry has them at NAPA and we will tell Officer Yale to stop in and pick them up. Related to that, Chief Oetinger approached Roger and Joe Adrignola about a possible merchant reward program in which downtown businesses would offer deals to kids that do not ride their bike in downtown, but rather walk their bikes through the busy section and walk, not ride, on the sidewalks. Possibilities include providing the police department with stickers/coupons that the officers could distribute to kids that do not ride on the sidewalk, rewarding them for this safe and courteous behavior. More discussion to follow at the board meeting on Tuesday, September 5th. It is also reported that LRGH would like to play a more active role in the bike rodeo next year.

Installation 2007
The Installation dinner will be held on Monday, October 2nd. All members and spouses are invited. We will also invite some past presidents and members. This may also be a good event to invite prospective members to. The evening will consist of the installation of the new treasurer, the new first vice president and the new second vice president. Also, new members of the board of directors will be installed and the Legion of Honor recipients will also be recognized. The Ned Roberts Award for Kiwanian of the Year will be handed out as well. Plans will be in the works over the next few weeks with President Joe Collie heading them up. The menu will be decided at the board meeting on September 5th. The cost will be $20 per person. More to follow…
