Roger’s Ride:
Approximately
85 bikers and volunteers gathered at Irwin Motors for the second
annual Roger’s
Ride, held on Sunday, August 29th. Roger’s Ride, named in memory
of Roger Ballantyne, who passed away on August 29, 2008 after fighting a courageous
battle with kidney cancer, is a motorcycle ride used to raise funds toward
a cure for kidney cancer. This year’s event raised over $4,300.
Roger Ballantyne was a member of the Laconia Kiwanis Club for over 30 years. During that time, he served as club president in 1986 and was named Kiwanian of the year in 1983. Kiwanians participating in Roger’s Ride included Warren Mitchell; his grandson, Ben Pearson; Paul Cotton; and Dick Breton. Breton, who led the motorcycle ride, was pleased to present Betty Ballantyne, Roger’s wife, with a contribution from the Kiwanis Club.
A message from Betty Ballantyne can be read by “clicking” here.
