Schedule Reminder…

Acting Pres. Joe Collie reminded the club that, next week, we will meet on Tuesday and the meeting will be at One Mill Plaza. We will see a presentation on the old Dick and Jane textbook series. The following week, Laconia High School principal Steve Beals will speak to the club about the things going on at the high school. The week of November 26th is open at this point. If you have a speaker in mind, please let Roger Landry know to avoid double booking.

Meet the Press:
Kathy Calvin was in the newspaper twice this week. She is involved with the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation and they are gearing up for their annual community spelling bee. The bee is this Thursday, November 8th at Laconia High School. Kathy was featured in two newspaper photographs. She was wearing her pin in one and not in the other. She was fined accordingly by acting Sergeant at Arms Warren Mitchell.

Go Sachems!
This Saturday, the Laconia High School Football team will try to cap a perfect season with a win in the championship game. The game is Saturday at Laconia High School at 1pm and Chet Cilley will be working the snack shack. He could use some assistance as Jim Fortier will be away that day. Kathy Calvin and Paul Cotton will also be on hand. If anyone else is interested in helping out, please be at Laconia High at noon on Saturday and thanks in advance for your support. Go Sachems!

Party at the Mall....uh, I mean MILL...
Dick Metz alerted the club to this week's party and fundraiser at the Belknap Mill. More than a dozen restaurants will be on hand for their Taste of the Lakes Region. After dinner, there will be an auction with what Dick described as "some really great items up for bid." All the proceeds benefit the Belknap Mill Society. The event is this Friday, November 9th and tickets are $40 each or $275 for a table. Dick also mentioned that the fund raiser dinner for the Boy Scouts will be held on November 13th at Steel Hill Resort. He is planning on being there and other Kiwanians are invited.

Somebody tell Dick Metz Halloween was last week before he puts the hex on us all.

Daddy wants a Caddy...
By secret ballot, the club voted 14-6 to take up Ed Chertok's proposal and try to raffle off his Caddy. Here's how it will work: 200 tickets; $50 a piece. The raffle will be selected on January 2nd. Ed is printing up tickets. The car has been detailed and --quote-- looks like a million bucks. The car will be parked at the NAPA store on Union Ave and each club member will be given tickets to try and sell chances on the Cadillac. Here are the details:
1996 Cadillac DeVille Councours
126,000 miles (low for it's age)
Mint Condition
One Owner
Complete Service records
Book Value $4,525.00!

50/50:
Russ Beane...again. $16.

Free Meal:
Ed "Baby You Can Drive My Car" Chertok

Fines:
Kathy for the newspaper thing.

Happy Dollars:
Dick Metz for Roger's drip. Joe Collie for his daughter's birthday coming up Thursday. Russ Beane for the 50/50 and for the Sachems having a chance at an undefeated season. Russ was on the last undefeated team in the Fall of 1966. Ed Chertok gave a dollar as he told a story of a wealthy widow who placed $10,000 in the casket of her husband, only to have the money replaced with a check by Ace Beane. The punch line sent the club, especially Russ Beane, into stitches. See accompanying photo. In all, 6 dollars was collected.
