Your attendance is welcome...
President Dick announced that the Adult Kiwanis Christmas Party will be on December 14th and we will be having a Yankee Swap. So, if you want to participate please bring a wrapped gift (maximum value: $10).

Kathy Calvin is looking for volunteers for Kiwanis K.A.R.E.S. on December 10th.

Cathy Knox invited the membership to go up one flight of stairs at One Mill Plaza to visit her new studio directly after the evening's meeting.

Another Contribution....
Cathy Knox has been kind enough to donate additional money to the Laconia Kiwanis Club. For the second time this month, Cathy gave the club $40, which represents proceeds from her Yoga studio. Thanks, Cathy! t

There was no 50/50 drawing this evening but Phil Bonafide did offer to collect the money “Give me a dollar, pick a number, and I’ll tell you if you won.”

$1 Larry Murphy because after 3 trips to Concord he has finally finished the Gaming application for the Kiwanis Club of Laconia
$1 Jocelyn Morin because the Key Club was the third largest fundraiser at the Turkey Plunge this past weekend. See pictures below.

Guest Speaker:
Joe Adrignola introduced Elaine Morrison, a retired special Education Teacher and Artist.

Elaine talked about forming a program called Veteran Art Exchange where students share artwork with military hospitals like Walter Reed.

Elaine also spoke about how war has influenced her life. Her father was in the army, her uncle was a veteran, she had lost classmates in the Vietnam War, and her son Brendan, son-in-law, John and nephew, Jonathan, have recently or are currently serving.

Elaine then gave us a tour of the artwork on display, explaining to the club the different techniques and the story behind each piece. For more information on Elaine and her artwork, check out a recent article in Laconia's Citizen by "clicking" here.

Elaine points out one of her artistic work, which is called "Doc." It is a collage which was made out of
a tourniquet and gauze from her son-in-law, John's, medical kit.

Post meeting visit with Cathy Knox:

Right after our meeting adjourned, several Kiwanians took advantage of Cathy Knox's kind invitation and went up to the first floor of One Mill Plaza to visit Cathy's new Yoga studio.

Kathy Calvin teamed up with the Laconia Key Club last Saturday to participate in the Salvation Army's annual Turkey Plunge at Weirs Beach. Most teams wore costumes, this team wore mustaches. Although it was a very nice day, the water temperature at the time of the plunge was reported to be a refreshing 48 degrees.
