John reported this his past weekend he attended the quarterly Kiwanis convention in Portsmouth and noted that he learned an lot about the Club that he had not known previously. A nugget he learned about Kiwanis is that on December 6th, at Tufts University in Boston, there is a Open House of a brand new Pediatric Trauma Institute facility entirely funded by Kiwanis. Kiwanis’ work regarding Pediatric Trauma has resulted in the development of an entirely new field of specialized medicine. John said this type is info we need to get out to the community in order to attract new members. He promised to bring additional factoids like that to every meeting.
From the Members:
Kathy Calvin announced a Kiwanis KARES event at Woodland Heights Friday on December 5th. She will miss it but feels it is adequately covered.
Kathy also encouraged people to sign up to work the Salvation Army donation bucket on Main Street December 23rd.
Kathy announced that December 6 is the food shopping day for the Salvation Army that the Club and Key Club do. Joe will advise if he needs additional help.
Kathy reminded members that our first meeting in December will include a Yankee Swap to celebrate the season.
Bill Gile reminded members of the December 11th event at the LHS of Laconia’s Got Talent. Tickets sold at the door, proceeds to benefit Got Lunch! Laconia.

Remember When:
Steve Loughlin made a video presentation highlighting the Laconia Kiwanis Club for fiscal year 2001 -2002.
He noted the purpose of the presentation was:
• To bring back memories to some of the veteran members of the club and
• To give our newer members a perspective of the history and prior traditions of the club
2001 – 2002 was the term that Phil Bonafide was president. Just prior to Phil, Don Nelson was president. Following Phil, Larry Murphy was president.
The following were a few a the pictures featured in the video:
Tonight's meeting was adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
