Yankee Swap:

This year’s Yankee Swap was an amusing but lengthy free-for-all of gift swappers that lasted over an hour.

Larry Murphy was lucky enough to draw ticket #1, which meant he picked the first gift, and had the envious privilege to pick the last gift from anyone in the room. His initial gift was a crock pot but he ended with up a bottle of Crown Royal.

Hot items this year included a Snuggie blanket, which flipped back and forth between several people including Chrissie Metz, Lori Marsh and Ed Merski. Chrissie Metz proved the victor in that heated contest. Other gifts that didn't stay in the hands of anyone very long included a mini tool kit, a probe light tool, and a box of mini flashlights.

Two joke gifts were the surprise of the evening.

The perennial Billy Bass talking fish (which didn't talk this year because last years recipient was too cheap to put in new batteries) proved to be the opposite of being the traditional booby prize. Many tried to hook Billy Bass especially Alice Contardo and Donna Waugh.

The biggest surprise of the evening was a talking chicken, which proved even more popular than Billy Bass. The chicken never stayed on anyone’s plate for more than a few minutes and, like Billy Bass, was most sought after by both Alice Contardo and Donna Waugh. The latter cried “fowl” when Alice proved to be the final victor in that contest.

Let the swap begin.
